Capacity Building and Skill Enhancement Initiatives

Netaji Subhash Mahavidyalaya makes every possible effort to build up capacity and develop skills amongst its students so as to ensure a healthy living with wisdom. Soft skills are incorporated in the curriculum itself. The topics covered in the syllabus of soft skills are frequently asked in the competitive examinations for various Govt jobs.  The soft skill courses offered by the college are e- marketing, Principles and Practices of Insurance, Banking Laws and Practice, Human Rights and Gender Studies, Indian Constitution and Planning and Disaster Management. Amongst these, the first three soft skill papers are meant for the students of B.Com (major and general). Students admitted to honours course have to select any two soft skill papers and that of general course will have to select all the three papers mandatorily. Human Rights and Gender Studies, Indian Constitution and Planning and Disaster Management are meant to be opted by the students of B.A. and B.Sc. courses (major and general). Amongst these three papers, any two papers are to be opted by the students of major course and all the three papers are compulsory for the students of general course. Considering the importance of language and communication skills, the college makes provision for a language laboratory for the Department of English. Development of ICT skills is a must to cope up with the development of information and communication technology. The college, thus, offers courses on computer language namely, ‘BASIC’ and ‘C’ for the students opting for B.Sc. courses.

Physical fitness is a pre-requisite for holistic development of a student. The institution takes due care of the physical fitness of the students, teachers and non-teaching staff and organizes frequent programmes to ensure both mental and physical fitness. Every year International Yoga Day is observed in the college campus in a befitting manner. Students and both teaching and non-teaching staff are encouraged to practice yoga and incorporate this as a life skill to enhance the quality of their lives. Programmes for mental and physical fitness, organized by the college, are listed below:
